I caught a ray of light that shone upon the place
we stood.
We glimpsed the skies beyond the grey clouds,
the restless seas.
You whisked me up mountains to see views
I never dreamed of.
I saw in you all that is,
I learnt in you all I am,
I felt in you all I could.
A crack that split across a glass of sand.
Silently at first, the grains slipped through,
until wide as an ocean, our dreams escaped.
A heart left holding the broken shards
that glimmer in the fleeting light
as night descends upon the desert sands.
